Nokia 7.1 review

"  They say third time's a charm and indeed HMD did right by Nokia's legacy. Once the behemoth of the whole industry, it deteriorated to oblivion, only to be resurrected by Microsoft, and then fall again. Android One turned out to be the platform for Nokia to thrive once more and the latest Nokia 7.1 is the perfect example of how well things are going. The first HMD-made Nokia phones had great potential, but there was noticeable room for improvement. And with the second generation of Android-powered Nokias we do get more! The Nokia 7.1 is not only well-prepared for the mid-range with its Snapdragon 636 chip and capable dual-camera, but it does impress with a large HDR display.  "

Nokia 8 Sirocco Review

Believe it or not, the Nokia 8 Sirocco is at the top of the company's lineup at the moment, complete with a high-res display, a fast chipset, a dual camera, and plenty of storage. It is, however, also the company's most expensive phone, and a lot of water went under the bridge since its unveiling, so are the fine specs and fast Android One chops enough to justify the pricing? Read on to find out...  "

Nokia 7 Plus Review

HMD Global, the new home of Nokia phones, recently announced one of its best midrangers to date, and we couldn't wait to get our hands on it – to review the zoom camera config on the copper-accented Nokia 7 Plus and to test the endurance out of the big battery inside it. That's not to mention the stock Android that Nokia slapped on it, and which gives way only to Google's Pixels in terms of timely OS version or security updates. But does the Nokia 7 Plus live up to the value-for-money hype it created when it was announced? Let's find out.  "

Nokia 6.1 2018 Review

Nokia is back and now it’s making Android phones. In fact, it made one of the most popular affordable Android phones in 2017: the Nokia 6. And now, it has its successor: the new Nokia 6.1 (2018), also known as the Nokia 6 (2018) or simply, “the new Nokia 6”. The Nokia 6.1 looks and feels a lot like its predecessor: it’s a 5.5-inch phone that is made of metal, feels very thin and runs on Android One, a clean, bloatware-free version of Android that is first in line when it comes to future updates. The Nokia 6.1 is also more powerful than its predecessor and can now record 4K video. All of that sounds great for a phone that costs just $270, but are there any hidden pitfalls that you should look out for?  "

Nokia 7 plus review

"  Running out of single-digit numbers in its ever-growing portfolio, the reborn Nokia has started adding words - the high-end Nokia 8 Sirocco is worthy of an iconic moniker from the past, while simpler phones only get a 'plus', with a lowercase 'p' at that! But the Nokia 7 plus isn't looking half-bad - capital 'P' material at least. The Snapdragon 660 is certainly as powerful a chip as you can get in the midrange and a dual camera with a telephoto secondary shooter reads like a line from a high-end phone's specsheet - in fact, it's the Sirocco's hardware. The 18:9 display is in keeping with the trends and 1080p is perfectly alright for a 6-incher in this segment. The 3,800mAh battery is more than generous and the bundled 18W quick charger is great for quick top-ups.  "

Nokia 8 Sirocco review

Sirocco is no wind of change and rushing things is not really the Mediterranean way. It makes perfect sense then that the Nokia 8 Sirocco comes out with last year's chipset and what's now considered an old-school 16:9 aspect display. That's everything old about it though - well, that and, obviously, the name lifted off of one of the special editions Nokia 8800s from the mid-noughties.The Nokia 8 Sirocco is more than a little different from the plain 8 that's been out for some 8 months now. A dual-curved 5.5-inch OLED display replaces the 5.3-inch LCD and that comes in an IP67 certified all-glass body, compared to the 8's aluminum backed construction with an IP54 rating. A new camera setup now includes a large dual pixel primary 12MP sensor in place of the smaller 13MP one on the Nokia 8, and what was a monochrome camera on the 8 is now a telephoto instead. The combo should be mostly the same as the one found on the 7 Plus, but with OIS added in the mix. One could see it as a downgrade that the 8 Sirocco's front camera can't record 2160p videos (the one on the vanilla 8 can), but this 5MP selfie shooter's large pixels promise better low-light images.  "

Nokia 8 review

The Nokia 8 is a Nokia without Windows phone, but is it worth making the switch to Android for ardent fans? A lot has changed since we last reviewed a Nokia flagship smartphone here at Windows Central. Not including Microsoft branded Lumia handsets, the last 'Nokia' flagship phone we reviewed was the Nokia Lumia Icon/930 back in 2014, almost four whole years ago. The Microsoft-Nokia acquisition that took place that year marked the end of an era for Nokia. The brand was all but dead, with no new smartphones planned under the infamous 'Nokia' moniker.  "

Nokia 8 Review

" Nokia is back. It has embraced Android and it’s got a Snapdragon 835 flagship phone to compete with the big guns like the iPhones, Galaxies and Pixels. Welcome the Nokia 8. Nokia has built its flagship smartphone following a few simple principles: keep Android clean and bloatware-free, deliver good performance, and provide timely software updates. In many ways, the Nokia 8 is a “stock” Android phone done right, with little flare except for that new “bothie” camera mode.  "

Nokia 8 review

" This is it then. The long-awaited Finnish flagship that goes all in against the phones that rule today. The Finnish cameraphone returning to claim the prize that was once its birthright. Everybody bow and make way? No, it's not how it works. No story begins with a happy ending. Nokia can tell a few about life after death but HMD is not looking at a life of Sundays. The thing with Microsoft wasn't going anywhere but it still counts as a wasted second chance. The third time, failure is not an option. Nokia and HMD seem well aware of that and the Nokia 8 looks like it has adapted to the new reality fast. "

Nokia 2 hands-on review

It's been less than a year since Nokia made its big comeback with Android and the company has already launched six phones since then. The latest one to be announced is the Nokia 2, which made its global debut at an event in India yesterday. The nomenclature should make it clear but the Nokia 2 will be the most affordable smartphone in the range. It's no coincidence that the launch was in India, because India and other developing markets will be the key demographic for a low-price device like the Nokia 2.  "
