| Most recent article: A.C.Ryan VEOLO Smart Android Hub A.C.Ryan VEOLO Smart Android Hub Review " Standalone Hardware Media Players have been around for quite a few years now offering remarkable media file support and very good image quality in a tiny package. However it wasn't until just recently that some manufacturers decided to use the Android OS with their newest solutions instead of the usual (and quite more stable) GUIs. TViX (DViCO) was the first manufacturer to jump the gun with the quite good XROID A1 smart multimedia player which as mentioned before did have some issues with the Android system (most of which are resolved through firmware updates). Since then however others have also joined the game including A.C.Ryan which introduced their own Smart Android Hub called the VEOLO. " |

That's right, we have the Acer Aspire S7-391 in the lab today. The S7-391 is a premium Ultrabook that features a touch-enabled 13.3-inch 1080p display. As stated in our previous reviews, some benchmarks have been updated to their latest version. Notably, PCMark 7 and Powermark have been updated to their latest versions. Previous PCMark 7 scores are not comparable to the new version so all old results have been archived. We've gone ahead and archived Powermark's results at the same time to be sure that results in our charts are all comparable. " |

One of the more interesting, or unique devices in that batch of reviews was the Zotac RAIDBOX which allowed us to install two of our own mSATA SSDs and then combine them for a larger capacity, data protection or maximum speed in RAID 0. The performance of that drive was impressive and in part that was down to the drives inside, two ADATA mSATA SSDs. Today we take a look at ADATAs SX300 mSATA SSD, the 256GB model and will find out how it compares to a desktop SSD as well as a competing mSATA model. " |

By now, you will probably already have begun to wonder what the abbreviation GT could possible imply for a PSU. Well, according to Aerocool, the acronym GT means that the PSU will serve you for a long time without giving you any trouble - while you play your favorite video games or take your PC through any of your other paces. Since the GT-SG series PSUs sport really cool looks, they will most likely be used inside gaming systems with windowed cases, which allows for a clear view of the internals, and not in boring, ordinary office systems with much lower requirements. To me storage is just like tools, you can never have enough and when you have enough you want more. So it was a bit striking for me to see a company such as Ineo, again focused on storage mediums to branch out into the world of Audio. When companies stretch their resources and branch into other markets it’s a very stressful time for everyone involved. Will their products be accepted into the market with joy and tons of fanfare, or will they flop and wipe the entire company out? On the surface it appears Ineo has taken a step back and really looked into the market as a whole, designing aesthetically pleasing audio systems that would have audiophiles drooling at the mouth, and even more they sound simply amazing. The M17x R3 was slimmed down from its beefy predecessor and the M17x actually remains one of the sleeker desktop replacement notebooks available. The M18x had to take its place at the top of Alienware's stack, then, as their contender for the most powerful gaming notebook on the market. That contention continues with the M18x R2, which like the M17x R4 we recently reviewed is more of an incremental update than a fully-fledged new design. The R2, like the R4, brings with it an Ivy Bridge CPU and a pair of Kepler-based NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M GPUs in SLI. As we saw, NVIDIA made fantastic gains with the 680M over the 580M; if that didn't impress you enough, you may want to hold on to your hat because two 680Ms in SLI are liable to blow your mind. " |

We’ve had K2, Himalaya and many others – today we taken on a cooler which again takes its name from a mountain pass – Gotthard. Gotthard is the second top-flow design CPU cooler in Alpenföhn product range. It features a three heatsink design, six copper heatpipes and a single 140mm Wing Boost cooling fan. This was a response to the success of the Nexus 7 from Google/ASUS and the growing popularity of Kindle Fire from Amazon. While both were aimed at a different market to the iPad (and other larger tablets) they may well have impacted sales indirectly by giving those who could have saved previously a lower entry point to the portable device market. As part of a flurry in the tablet market which saw the refresh of the Nexus 7, release of iPad Mini and debut of Microsoft's Surface Amazon return to the marketplace with a follow up to their Kindle Fire, the Kindle Fire HD. | Most recent article: AMD Radeon HD 7990 Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD 7990 Graphics Card Review " Today's launch from AMD is a strange one for sure... in a way it is a brand new product, their first Dual GPU card in the 7000 series and the first since the 6990 in 2011. Having said that, as early as August last year we were reviewing a very similar product from PowerColor, their Devil 13 card which combined two 7900 series GPUs on a single PCB. Of course there is also ASUS custom dual GPU card too, the ARES2. Given this it seems surprising that AMD are treating this launch in pretty much the same way as any other... NDAs, Press breifings, etc. So, re-launches aside, today we take the 7990 through a selection of real world gaming tests which include Crysis 3, Bioshock Infinite, Far Cry 3, Assassins Creed 3, StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, Battlefield 3, Tomb Raider, DOTA 2, SWTOR, F1 2012 and Borderlands 2. Mix that with the latest 3DMark, Heaven Benchmark, GPU computing, Media playback and all the usual power/thermal and overclocking tests... add frame latency and we have quite a lot to get through today. Today we have with us the latest exciting addition to the Kuhler H20 series, the Kuhler H20 1220. Why is this exciting you may be wondering? Well this is the first review in the world of the Antec Kuhler H20 1220 and to us a world exclusive is pretty exciting. In terms of the design of this product, the innovation is probably not as exciting as you’d hope. The Antec Kuhler H20 1220 is essentially a 240mm Asetek AIO unit featuring a 27mm wide radiator, a standard Asetek pump unit and the flexible rubber tubing we see on the latest Asetek OEM designs. All Antec have done is branded the product with its Kuhler series branding, added a pair of their fans and offered up some basic fan control software. It's also more of an update than a complete overhaul, and that means it's still a very nice mini PC. It's a compact mini PC, that you can use as server (combined with MacOS X Server if you want), HTPC or just as computer. It has a very high-end finish compared to other mini PCs, with a solid aluminium chassis and a good array of connectors in the back. " As tablets have become more and more popular a significant number of users have looked to use them as more than just content consumption devices. Certainly the majority of people like to surf, listen, read, watch or play on their device but many now look to use them to work on email and even use office files on their tablet. For the most part the ability to be productive has been limited with two real exceptions, the Transformer Pad range with its keyboard dock and more recently the Galaxy Note 10.1. The Note and Transformer Pad clearly have their own group of consumers as far as productivity is concerned with keyboards and stylus offering two very different ways to interact with the device and so either could be a target for a company looking to better the design, price or performance. With their new tablet Archos aim to take a chunk of the productivity tablet market with a device aimed very much at those interested in the Transformer Pad... so with several generations of tablet development behind them and a lower RRP than ASUS, can they succeed? | Most recent article: ASRock Z77 Extreme11 Intel LGA1155 ASRock Z77 Extreme11 Intel LGA1155 Review " "Flagship" products in the tech world are, more often than not, used as a way to showcase engineering prowess while, at the same time, delivering the "ultimate package" for whatever product category the item falls under. We see this repeated time and time again with graphics cards—in a way that establishes most brand-specific designs through custom-designed coolers and beefy PCBs. When it comes time to look at motherboards, though, each flagship board product is very much an engineering demonstration, although that same idea does in part ring true. What differs with motherboards is that each brand really does have a very distinctive style that sets it apart from the rest, and ASRock is no different. ASRock has been around for quite some time as a brand, but they have not always been in the hearts and minds of enthusiasts as a whole, as their entry into the market wasn't ripe with enthusiast-focused offerings. Today, the complete opposite is true, and like with any of the other major brands out there, ASRock has a product that will meet your needs no matter what type of enthusiast you are; and when it comes to those flagship products, ASRock does have those too. Current offerings have standard desktop sockets, PCI Express x16 slots, and peripheral ports up the wazoo. They can accommodate some of the fastest processors and GPUs available today. It's still difficult to find truly enthusiast-grade Mini-ITX enclosures, however. Most cases designed to accommodate the form factor have caveats, including limited support for larger coolers, graphics cards, and PSUs. Also, their cramped internals leave little room for mechanical drive arrays and can make the building process a royal pain. There is one rather striking deviation from the norm: BitFenix's Prodigy. This Mini-ITX box has little trouble accommodating full-sized desktop parts, and it has more drive bays than most mid-towers. Builder-friendly amenities abound, making assembly incredibly easy. | Most recent article: Buffalo MiniStation Thunderbolt SSD HD-PATU3 Buffalo MiniStation Thunderbolt SSD HD-PATU3 Review " In the world of portable storage generally drives use USB 2.0, some use USB 3.0 and although they are an option products which use either eSATA and Firewire are much rarer. It is easy to understand why though, with USB being the most available interconnect on modern systems and with USB 3.0 being present on most new systems and motherboards for the past couple of years. That said taking advantage of the newer standard isn't always something a storage drive does. Those which contain mechanical drives for example are limited by the drive rather than the connector. So it is always great when we see a portable drive that contains an SSD and uses USB 3.0, both of which should remove the USB 2.0 connector and mechanical drive bottlenecks which we regularly see. That's where the MiniStation SSD Edition enters, but Buffalo haven't stopped there, they also provide a Thunderbolt interface for Mac users (and those who have an appropriate motherboard for PC). " |

| Most recent article: Canon EOS 6D Canon EOS 6D review " Canon's EOS 6D is the company's first 'affordable' full frame DSLR. It's positioned above the EOS 60D (and in some respects the EOS 7D), providing a stepping stone into full-frame photography for owners of Canon's mid-range and semi-pro APS-C models. It also has the potential to serve as an affordable back-up body for EOS 5D Mark III owners. The EOS 6D has a newly designed 20.2 Megapixel sensor delivering slightly lower resolution than the 22.3 Megapixel EOS 5D Mark III. It has an 11-point phase-detect AF system with a single cross-type point at the centre that's sensitive down to -3EV or, as Canon is fond of putting it, about as much light as you get from a full moon. So, it's good in low light, but not especially well-suited to fast moving action. Likewise the EOS 6D's continuous shooting capabilities aren't particularly swift: at 4.5fps many DSLRs, and mirrorless compact system cameras can outrun it. But the EOS 6D isn't about action, Canon likes to describe it as a camera for landscape, travel and portrait photographers. " |

I am used to seeing chassis much like this concept, but they were from the likes of Danger Den, and while cool and fun to build, those cases always left me wanting in room, compatibility with my loop components, and most importantly, I didn't like the acrylic dust attracting materials for a chassis. You could have always gone to the likes of MountainMods, but from what I hear, the components are flimsy, and for the cost, customers are sometimes left with remorse for paying so much to be disappointed. Hardware.Info tested the EA6500 to find out whether the performance and features warrant those dreams. Cisco is not the first to come with an 802.11ac router, but it did right away also release an 802.11ac bridge with the Linksys WUMC710. The only other manufacturer to do so thusfar is Buffalo. The EA6500 costs around £160, while the WUMC710 has a price of around £90. Together these are definitely not an affordable setup, but it beats buying two routers in order to put one in bridge mode. All we’ve done since we got these headphones is talk about the product to people because of their name, very clever if you ask me. Yet when it comes to people talking about a product, it can’t just be because it has a silly or clever name, their needs to be something to back that up, quality, price, performance, style, any of these things and the more of them the better. It isn’t so much the fact that he or she has to answer to the master’s every whim, but that a genie spends most of the time cramped inside a tiny bottle. Maybe it is like Dr. Who’s TARDIS inside where the interior is much more spacious than what the external appearance suggests. I extend that same sympathy to the small magical components I have on my system that obey my every whim with a stroke from a keyboard or a click from a mouse. Granted, they are enjoying spacious full-tower accommodations at the moment but I have always searched for a smaller solution so I can transport them easily. It seems AMD has designed this card purposely to compete both in performance and price in the $150 bracket, targeted at mainstream consumers who want some moderate gaming without breaking the bank. Specifically we’re examining the HIS 7790 iCooler Turbo. It comes with a custom cooler cooler and a factory overclock that reaches over 1GHz. What’s particularly enticing is this HIS card qualifies for an AMD promotional offer that tosses in an A+ gaming title in Bioshock Infinite worth $60 into the package. That sounds like an excellent deal, even if the performance isn’t terribly groundshaking as a more budget-oriented card. " |

We fully appreciate that Intel and its hardware partners made a concerted effort to slim down the notebook without sacrificing performance (unlike the once popular netbook form factor), but limiting the segment to 14-inch displays (and smaller) felt like a step back in some ways. Enter Hewlett-Packard's Envy Ultrabook 6t-1000 Series. The Envy Ultrabook signals a return to the 15.6-inch form factor for those who want a larger size display, but otherwise find themselves, well, envious of slimmer laptops. Obvious by the router’s model number you can see that this is the fourth revision of this very popular router. Priced at $99.99 shipped, the Netgear WNDR3700v4 is an N600 rated Dual Band router which means two channels (2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz) performing at up to 300 Mbps each. Dual-band routers are pretty much the standard now and continue to give users flexibility to stream high definition multimedia and play games online with no interruption. The Netgear WNDR3700v4 router is designed to give ample wireless coverage for “medium to large” homes and offices. This is one of Netgear’s “middle-of-the-road” routers when compared to “economic” N300 that retails for around $50 and the “best-in-class” wireless-AC R6300 for $200. " |

Finding the right case for a system, and environment, is a matter of looking at what they system will be used for, and what is required for the environment it will be used in. For example, a high end, overclocked gaming system would want a case with massive airflow, and since the sound system would overpower the fans as far as noise goes, sound proofing would not be an issue. On the other hand if the system is used in say, a music studio, or other environment where low noise levels are a necessity, then the user would want a case that reduces noise levels. But as we all know, it would also have to keep the components of the system cool. " |

Statistically, this means that every step of their product line, from 5** all the way to 9**, has been backed up by a fresh WP8-rocking alternative. OK, that's nothing out of the ordinary and actually well on time. The Lumia 520 was announced at this year's MWC, along with the Lumia 720, signaling Nokia's intention to focus on the lower tiers of the market. In terms of budget, it doesn't get any lower than the Lumia 520. With an estimated retail price of under €150, the 520 is clearly the most affordable WP8-powered smartphone. While stability and safety of your data have become a number one priority for the manufacturers, the technology keeps advancing in a fast pace as it does, the performance numbers a good SSD offers these days are simply breathtaking. 450 to 500 MB/sec on SATA3 is the norm for a single controller based SSD. With every release of a new device, it seems the display is the biggest improvement, with higher resolutions and more pixels per inch being the specs that consumers cling to when deciding one versus another. With such an emphasis on visuals, we can’t afford to overlook the need for high quality speakers to fully enjoy the experience. There are numerous choices out there, and most are X.1 setups. This is generally some number (i.e. X) of satellite speakers and a subwoofer (aka .1). The traditional 2.0 (no separate subwoofer) market has historically been saturated with “cheap” speakers…unfortunately that hasn’t changed much with the emphasis on X.1 setups. So can a 2.0 speaker system cut it in today’s market where so much emphasis is being placed on getting the most out of the HD media and high quality audio that is so readily available these days? Palo Alto seems to think so, and with their Cubik speakers they are here to try and dispel multiple myths. Essentially, bigger isn’t always better, and more speakers does not mean better sound. " |

An interesting new feature is 'Clear Retouch', - a simple touch-based 'heal' tool. This function can be applied to captured images in review mode - you simply touch the area that you wish to clone-out and the camera attempts a context-aware fill, removing the offending object/blemish. We've only had a limited time with a pre-production camera, but we're not all that impressed by the feature's implementation. The 'healing' seems to be based on a highly simplistic proximity match, which we've found is more likely to insert bizarre, distracting textures than to effectively conceal unwanted scene elements. A quick call to SanDisk and we had the necessary drives. I promptly started testing and while the results were good; they were not as good as we hoped for. Another call to SanDisk revealed they had already for-seen what we were experiencing and had just launched a new firmware to address certain performance metrics in RAID 0 that needed a little refining. That firmware is available here. Sometimes firmware can have a transformational effect on a drive, it doesn’t happen very often so I wasn’t expecting a whole lot. To our surprise this new firmware designated FW Revision X2306RL transformed the performance of our Ultra Plus Array from an okay array into a beast of an array. SanDisk’s engineering team really out did themselves this time. If you own a SanDisk Ultra Plus and haven’t updated your firmware to X2306RL then you need to do so. " |

| Most recent article: Sapphire HD7790 2GB OC Sapphire HD7790 2GB OC Review " The graphics card landscape is constantly changing as AMD and Nvidia battle for increased market share. While the hot, steamy action always happens in the high end, the majority of sales for both companies are in the less exciting budget sector. With this in mind, AMD released the 1GB HD7790 a month ago, a solution designed to slot in between the budget HD7770 and the more capable HD7850. Our biggest concern at HD7790 launch time was that many partners were dropping the prices of their HD7850 models. It was difficult to wholeheartedly recommend the HD7790 under such stiff competition from the faster AMD part. Today we look at the latest 2GB Sapphire HD7790 OC model – is it worth buying? " |

Far from it as recently we saw the launch of various 4TB models which are ideal for storage in a system which boots from a small capacity SSD, or even for use in servers and NAS. So today we take a look at what the Seagate Barracuda 4TB drive has to offer in a selection of tests while also finding out how easy (or hard) it is to set up a large capacity drive like this in Windows 8. When we were offered a sample from a company called Shogun Bros we immediately thought of a cool new oriental themed Nintendo game. Wacky company name aside, the new Ballista MK1 has been designed to challenge the big players, at a lower price point. We spent around a week testing this mouse and loaning it out to several competitive UK clan gamers to get other viewpoints. Is this a cheap ‘n’ nasty second choice option or a quality mouse able to stand its ground against the big players? Shogun Bros have been hiding under the radar now for a while, making a splash at CES this year with a mouse that could be flipped over to double up a gamepad. The Ballista MK1 however is a serious attempt to target the demanding audience who want the smoothest movement from high grade laser optics. " |

In this review, we will take a rigorous look at their DS61 offering. It is basically a slim, barebone PC for the digital signage market. The word "barebone", for those of you that don’t know, denotes that you will have to equip it with some components—usually CPU, RAM, and an SSD/HDD—in order to make it fully operational. Barebones allow for more customization, which gives users the ability to pick the crucial parts they need to meet their ends—all based on their budget. The DS61 is compatible with 1155 socket CPUs of up to 65 W TDP (Thermal Design Power) and includes many I/O ports, which makes it suitable for a wide range of uses including digital signage purposes. Probably with tough industrial environments in mind while designing this unit, Shuttle used solid capacitors to increase reliability and make the unit capable of operating seamlessly at high ambient temperatures of up to 50°C. His two PCs that needed to be connected where all the way on the second floor. Now, to create a network one can do several things. Take a long CAT5 cable, drill holes through the floors of the house and route the cabling through it. Sure, best performance... but not really sexy-looking in your all new remodeled house. The most logical rout to follow then is obviously to go wireless, but my friend games online a lot ... even with an N series wireless access point or router (IEEE 802.11n) the distance is rather far that he was bound to see some packet-loss. Now you can amplify and boost signals but things become more complicated and expensive real fast. So why not take an unusual simple route ... all the man needs is an Internet connection on two PCs with fairly average speeds. Yep, anno 2011 it is possible to create a network over your power lines. Sony Xperia SP official photos A nicely spec'd screen and an adequately powered chipset come together in a beautiful and well-built package, giving the Sony Xperia SP the right tools to survive in the cutthroat battle in this price bracket. The transparent LED strip, which now has even richer functionality, will definitely add character too to help it fight the last generation of flagships, fresh from relegation to the midrange. " |

The computer market has developed a lot in recent years, with more and more people taking an interest in building their own systems and buying custom parts. The first is the ECO Intelligent Thermal Control System which engages the fan only when the internal temperature of the PSU reaches 65°C-70°C and once the fan starts to spin its RPMs are thermally controlled. For those that prefer normal fan operation there is a two-way switch on the PSU's front side through which you can toggle between normal and Hybrid fan operation. The second patent has to do with the main transformer which contrary to the typical horizontal double layer winding, features a vertical one so it occupies less PCB space and can handle more power for its footprint.
