AMD Radeon HD 7950 Review
" Often times AMD and Nvidia release their flagship GPUs with the launch of a new series of graphics card, but it’s the one under the newly crowned king that people most look forward to, the price/performance champion of the people. And in between all the festivities, we usually tend to overlook the middle sibling, the one who sits smack in the middle of the mid-range champion and the performance king. Today marks the launch of one such card, the AMD HD 7950. " Read More... |

AMD Radeon HD 7950 Launch Review
" The end of January brings us the hotly anticipated AMD Radeon HD 7950 graphics card, the second in AMD's new line-up of DirectX 11.1, 28nm GCN architecture products. Using the same GPU core as the world's fastest single-GPU card, the AMD Radeon HD 7970, the HD 7950 offers a little less performance and should go head to head with NVIDIA's current fastest single-GPU card, the GeForce GTX 580. Last generation, the HD 6950 was the sweet spot champion as its $299USD SEP price point offered great stock performance, nice overclocking - and potential unlocking to be a fully-fledged HD 6970. AMD Radeon HD7950 Quadfire Review @ Overclock3D
" If there is one thing we enjoy doing here at OC3D, besides bringing you the best content, it's going a bit mad. We love just trying to push the envelope in a 'let's pretend money was no object' kinda way. We've done MARS 2 SLI. We've done Quadfire HD7970. Now we're back with Quadfire HD7950. Of course gaming with this kind of setup is pointless, so we're focussing on the three big benchmarks, 3D Mark Vantage, 3D Mark 11 and Unigine Heaven. You know all about the cards from our other reviews, so let's just get on with the results. " Read More... |

PowerColor, Sapphire, XFX HD 7950 Review
" While the reference Radeon HD 7950 is a great performer, there are going to be a host of custom SKUs from AIB partners available on day one. In this review we are going to be looking at three custom graphics cards from Sapphire, PowerColor and XFX. All three of the HD 7950 models we are going to be examining sport a robust dual fan thermal solution, overclocked frequencies and high quality components. These ingredients will not only help make each model faster than the reference card, but also improve the overall efficiency and lower the acoustic levels as well. Throughout the review we are going to be examining the graphics cards alphabetically, so we start with the PowerColor PCS+. This card includes a heatsink utilizing large 8mm heatpipes, a pure copper base and dual 92mm fans. This heatsink design is advertised to keep the GPU up to 15% cooler and 20% quieter. In addition, the PowerColor model is overclocked to 880MHz and for improved efficiency sports a digital PWM solution, multi-phase design and ferrite core chokes. " Read More... |

AMD Radeon HD 7950 Launch Review
" Just a month ago AMD released the fastest single GPU solution available, the Radeon HD 7970 utilizing AMD's Generation Core next (GCN) architecture which sported the first 28nm GPU on the market, and also the first to support DirectX 11.1. Today we are continuing our look at the Northern Islands graphics cards with the next iteration in the series, the HD 7950. Like the HD 7970, the HD 7950 is based on AMD’s GCN architecture and is also built on a 28nm node. However, the HD 7950 comes with less streaming processors, slightly reduced clock speeds and requires less power. In total, the HD 7950 comes packed with 1792 stream processors, 32 raster units, 112 texture units and a GPU engine clock speed of 800MHz. Additionally, the HD 7950 has a 3GB memory buffer with a default clock speed of 1250MHz which runs on a 384-bit bus, giving the card a total memory bandwidth of 240GB/s. " Read More... |

AMD Radeon HD 7950 Tahiti Pro DirectX 11 GPU Review
" When AMD announced the Radeon HD 7970 last month, it revealed a new, ultra-powerful graphics card that snatched the single-GPU performance crown from the previous titleholder, NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 580. AMD may have staked a claim for the fastest single graphics card with the dual-GPU powered Radeon HD 6990, but its previous flagship single-GPU powered card, the Radeon HD 6970, generally trailed the GeForce GTX 580 in real-world game performance. AMD Radeon HD 7950 Review
" With the launch of their Southern Islands architecture, AMD proved they still have what it takes to engineer a class leading graphics core. The 28nm Tahiti XT core which graced the flagship HD 7970 packed 4.3 billion transistors into a compact, efficient design and easily wrested the “fastest single GPU” title away from NVIDIA’s GTX 580. Initial availability may not have been quite up to some people’s expectations and the cards did run a bit loud (an issue which has supposedly been corrected on the retail products) but otherwise, we felt it was a nearly perfect graphics card. AMD Radeon HD 7950 Crossfire review 2 and 3-way Review
" The Radeon HD 7950 was launched this week and received a quite positive vibe in the market. Though my bet is that everybody had hoped for something a little cheaper, the 7900 series are products with a lot of horsepower and also with a lot of reserve. The graphics engine on the Tahiti GPU was overhauled with the result that in more stringent condition it just performs better. Such conditions would be GPU limited games, and gaming in the massive resolutions with multiple monitor configurations, hence that phat 3 GB graphics memory helps out. The R7950 might be a sweet-spot for those that wish to follow the mutli-GPU route. Injected in the 400 EUR / 450 USD price tag bracket the product is cheaper opposed to its bigger brother, and with two 7950 cards you'll haul tooshy in performance. " Read More... |
