HIS HD7870 IceQ Turbo and IceQ X Turbo X Review
" Today we are looking at two of the latest graphics cards from HIS, the confusingly named HD7870 IceQ Turbo and the IceQ X Turbo X. Both of these cards feature custom cooling solutions and are supplied in a pre-overclocked state. We have been impressed with the IceQ coolers in the past, especially in regards to low noise levels, so we have hopes that these cards will prove a tempting solution for the discerning enthusiast gamer. HIS have some of the most dramatically designed coolers on the market. While companies such as XFX and MSI opt for distinguished metallic coolers, HIS have designed their ICE-Q coolers in the past with bright plastic aqua blue and transparent colour schemes. The appearance will certainly split opinion, however technically they are actually in the top 10% of cooling solutions on the market. " Read More... |

HIS Radeon HD 7770 iCooler 1 GB Review
" A few weeks ago AMD launched their Radeon HD 7700 Series. The cards use the all-new Cape Verde graphics processor which is based on AMD's new GCN Graphics Core Next architecture that promises increased performance and lower power draw. Cape Verde is a downscale from the "Tahiti" silicon, on which higher Radeon HD 7900 series parts are based. There are fewer number of redundant components, so Cape Verde is left functionally-identical to Tahiti, but is smaller, built for more affordable graphics cards. Cape Verde also retains the basic hierarchy of the architecture as implemented in Tahiti. " Read More... |

HIS Radeon 7870 ICEQ Turbo review
" The good people from AMD recently released two new products, the Radeon HD 7850 and 7870. The board partners are very savvy to release products based on these cute products as they perform well, quite well actually. Two graphics cards have been released in the 7800 series, Pitcairn XT (GPU codename) is the AMD Radeon HD HD7870 - it will have 20 Compute Units carrying 1280 Stream Processors, 80 texture units and 32 ROPs. core and memory frequencies will clock in at an impressive 1000 MHz on the GPU and 1200MHz (4800MHz effective GDDR5) on the memory, this product is equipped with 2GB memory running over a 256-bit memory interface. AMD brands this product the "One GHz Edition" due to the reference clock frequency. This means that AMD's partners can release products clocked even higher. " Read More... |

HIS Radeon HD 7750 iCooler review
" AMD released new entry level graphics cards. The codename for the GPU empowering these cards is is 'Cape Verde', and the graphics cards deriving from it are the Radeon HD 7750 and 7770 One GHz edition. This is not a refresh, it is a completely new GPU based on the same technology that powers the R7900 series, the GCN architecture. And that's interesting, as with less shader processors AMD will make this product a good chunk faster. They benefit from the GCN architecture but also have a trump card at hand, as this is the first ever reference card that is clocked at 1 GHz - hence AMD will give all these cards a 'GHz edition' extension. See, the 28nm node allows them to place a good 1.5 billion transistors onto the GPU's 123 mm2 die, and that should make the card a good 25% faster. " Read More... |

HIS HD7750 iCooler Graphics Card Review
" Our other editorials today focus on the new AMD HD7770 1GHZ graphics card, which is the higher end model in the 77xx range. In this review however we look at the HIS HD7750, a card which aims to target the budget aware gaming audience. HIS haven’t quite yet earned the reputation of Sapphire or XFX in the high end sector, although we have positively rated their IceQ coolers over the last year. How will they tackle this modestly priced budget solution? " Read More... |

HIS Radeon HD 7970 3GB Review
" The HD7970 has had a mixed reception from the enthusiast community. On the one hand, many are not impressed with the AMD HD7970 with most disappointed at the high retail price. For £100 less someone could buy NVIDIA's GTX580. While the GTX580 doesn't have the same performance it is hardly a slouch. On the other hand others are happy to see that the HD7970 has taken back the performance crown and given NVIDIA food for thought. Either way, there can be no doubting the HD7970's performance and performance three fold: speed, power consumption and cooling. AMD it seems, have got the balance just right save for the price. So if it is not broken, why change it? That seems to be the philosphy behind the HIS version of the HD7970 as on the face of it at least, it is identical in terms of both aesthetics and cooling by using the same heatsink/cooling design as the vanilla HD7970/7950. HIS Radeon HD 7950 CrossFire Graphics Card Review
" Over the last month and a bit we have had the opportunity to look at the Radeon 7900 series in detail. Back in December that meant the reference 7970 cards in single and CrossFire configurations then at the beginning of this month we revisited those setups with partner cards and new drivers. To complete the picture though we also took a look at tri and quad 7970 performance. When the 7970 samples hit the market AMD were still holding back from releasing the 7950, something they had openly discussed with the press in December. That changes today with the launch of that card though and so far we have taken a look at single card and overclocking performance. To complete the set of 7950 articles for today we have a HIS system set up and configured on an i7/X79 build and will be looking at CrossFire performance of AMD's new card in a selection of games which include Battlefield 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic at resolutions up to 5760x1080 (Eyefinity). HIS Radeon HD 7950 review
" A couple of weeks ago AMD launched the first series 7000 graphics cards based on the Tahiti XT GPU, the Radeon HD 7970. It was received positively in the market, a product that competes well with the GeForce GTX 580. It is time for the second product based of the series 7900 though, the Radeon HD 7950 launches today. Introduced in a 400 / 450 USD price tag bracket the product will compete with the GeForce GTX 570 (which costs 350 EUR these days). Now the R7950 will actually be a decent notch better than the GTX 570 as the overall performance is closer to a GTX 580 rather than that 570, which we'll show you. AMD took the Tahiti XT GPU sliced away some shader units, clocked it a notch slower and planted it onto a new PCB lined up with a new cooler. Overall the R7950 will not disappoint, good performance, impressive power consumption and great heat and noise levels. " Read More... |

HIS HD7950 Review
" While Nvidia regroup to launch their next round of discrete graphics cards, AMD have been running amok in the high end. Their HD7970 has reclaimed the single GPU throne from the GTX580. Today AMD release the HD7950, which should be available in the UK at a slightly more palatable price of £350. We all expected the HD7970 to oust the GTX580 from the top spot, at £470 it would have been a dire situation for AMD if it hadn’t. The HD7950 is infinitely more interesting because thanks to the price point it will be directly targeting the GTX580, which still retails for around £360-£400 including VAT in the UK. HIS Radeon HD 7970 Graphics Card Review
" Just before Christmas AMD released their latest generation of graphics cards with the high end Radeon 7970. Based on a 28nm manufacturing process and featuring a number of significant enhancements over the previous generation we took a look at that card here and in CrossFire over here... but at the time AMD limited their coverage of the product to reference cards, no discussion of partner products was allowed. That changes today and first up on our test bench is the HIS Radeon HD 7970 3GB. We will be putting it up against the best of the last generation in a selection of real world tests which include Battlefield 3, Star Wars: The Old Republic and Skyrim... all at 5760x1080. In addition to this we will also look at GPU computing and media performance as well as power and thermal performance. " Read More... |
