Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 preview

Bigger than the Note but not as bright. Not saying anything. We wouldn't want to get this guy upset. So, careful with the F-word. And no, not phablet, obviously. Though at 8mm, the Samsung Galaxy Mega technically isn't fat. There has been no such thing as size limit for Samsung but is the Galaxy Mega 6.3 already pushing it too far? The massive 6.3" screen puts the bigger one of the Mega brothers well into the upper range of phablets and almost into tablet territory. "

Samsung Galaxy Fame review

Samsung has always been keen on providing smartphones for the budget-conscious crowd and ever since Gingerbread came around we've been seeing a major push by its entry-level squad. Even though it runs on Jelly Bean, the Galaxy Fame is a bit of a blast from the past. The spec sheet has been duly upgraded but bits of it still feel as if plucked straight out of the Galaxy lineup from two years ago. "

Samsung Galaxy S4 Smartphone Review

Over the last few generations of phones Samsung have got a lot right in terms of hardware and marketing. They really began to get some real traction in the Android marketplace with the S2 and by the time the S3 was ready for release they were a real force to be reckoned with in the smartphone market. When they then announced the S4 in March the event was massive, a singing, dancing presentation covering many of the handsets key features and a massive step on from their previous launch events. As HTC have found keeping the lead in such a fast paced industry is hard and despite Samsungs recent success and massive launch event if a product doesn't live up to expectations things can go very wrong very quickly on the sales front. So what of the S4, is it enough of an upgrade from the S3 to entice current users? Can it compete with the impressive build quality offered by the HTC One? Today we take a look at the new model to see how it fairs in the current market. "

Blackberry Q10 Smartphone Review

Blackberry were, without doubt, masters of handsets with physical keyboards. Over the last decade they took control of the business market and a large portion of consumers with each group using their devices for email, BBM, etc while on the move despite some intriguing competition from the likes of the Palm Pre and Nokia E6. With the release of their Blackberry 10 OS we saw Blackberry move to a touch based smartphone, the Z10 and while it was a reasonably impressive handset it may not have appealed to the company's core audience who valued the physical keyboard. Enter the Q10 which brings the Blackberry range up to date in terms of specification and OS while integrating a physical keyboard with the touch and gesture based experience. "

HTC One review Update: Camera retested after firmware update

Voted Manufacturer of the Year in 2011 by the GSMA and emerging as the top US smartphone vendor later that year, HTC hit a rough patch and was struggling to find form through the better part of 2012. Complacency, fatigue, or something else - we don't even want to think arrogance - the company somehow forgot that even great products, which the One X and One S certainly were, need proper support and marketing to sell. HTC One official photos At the speed smartphones are evolving, a bad year can cause all sorts of trouble and HTC had to learn it the hard way. Fortunately, the financial trouble seems to have had no impact on the company's ability to produce excellent smartphones, as the HTC One is here to prove. "

Mobile: HTC One

HTC One review

It’s been a hard year for HTC. The Taiwan-based phone manufacturer had a great beginning in the Android world, but it’s been struggling to keep up appearances and convince the public to buy its handsets. Some analysts believe that the HTC brand is in trouble and that the company's struggles stem partly from the public not really recognizing it as the maker of the Android handset to buy. Not anymore, at least. Now that Samsung is in the top spot, HTC has a lot of ground to make up. The company's CEO, Peter Chou, famously said that he will step down if the One doesn't succeed, but the phone hasn't exactly had the best start: it has suffered manufacturing snafus caused by a component shortage, which came about partly because HTC is no longer considered a “tier-one customer” in manufacturing land. But in spite of branding and supply chain problems, the HTC One is still a very solid Android handset. "

Samsung Galaxy S4 review

We published our first hands-on impressions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 already, and today we will take a closer look at the software of Samsung's new flagship smartphone. The manufacturer has put a lot of emphasis on the myriad of possibilities of their new phone, so let's delve into them. Samsung has for a while been at the forefront of introducing cutting-edge software-based innovations into its high-end smartphones. The TouchWiz shell the Korean company developed for Android is becoming increasingly comprehensive. Last year's Galaxy SIII introduced things like Smart stay, Pop Up Video and all kinds of tricks taking advantage of motion and proximity sensors. The Galaxy Note 10.1 added the ability to display two apps next to each other, and the Galaxy Note II came with a preview feature that was activated when you hovered the pen right above the screen. Mobile: Sony Xperia SP

Sony Xperia SP review

It took some time but Sony had the big comeback many have been waiting for. The Xperia Z is selling well and we suspect it's been the driver for turning the company's fortunes around in the first quarter of the year. It's now time to carry that momentum over to the midrange and the Xperia SP looks like the right phone for the job. Sony Xperia SP official photos A nicely spec'd screen and an adequately powered chipset come together in a beautiful and well-built package, giving the Sony Xperia SP the right tools to survive in the cutthroat battle in this price bracket. The transparent LED strip, which now has even richer functionality, will definitely add character too to help it fight the last generation of flagships, fresh from relegation to the midrange. "

Sony Xperia ZL Review

Sony recently announced the Xperia ZL, an Android-powered 5″ Superphone to compete in the lucrative world of high end Android smartphones. The Xperia ZL’s important specs of note are it’s 5″ 1080p display (441ppi), a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon quad core processor, Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB RAM, and a microSD slot expandable to 64GB. The 2370 mAh battery is non-replaceable. The camera sports a 13 megapixel sensor with 1080p HD video recording. "

Sony Xperia ZL review

Having finally scored a homerun, and a desperately needed one at that, Sony is keen to bring another hitter off the bench. And they sure hope it's the Cadillac-driving kind. The Japanese mean business - and the Xperia Z did its best to get that point across. The Xperia ZL now has plenty of momentum to build on but a certain weight of expectations too. The double-backup is something Samsung has been doing for a couple of years now with a Galaxy S flagship in the spring followed by a Note phablet at the end of summer. Sony's going for what looks more like a one-two punch with the glass-clad, water-proof Xperia Z and the more compact, less extravagant, but just as premium Xperia ZL. The timeframe for their arrival to market has been shortened too - pretty much a must, considering that chipset is only getting older. "
